Founded in 1897, the Harborough Band are a second section contesting band who are proud to be the town band of Market Harborough in Leicestershire.
We are a friendly organisation of brass musicians who love making music!
The band is led by their musical director, Ben Smith, an esteemed euphonium player who has enjoyed a long association with the band as both a player and conductor.
The band plays an active part in the local community, performing at a wide array of events in the Market Harborough area and further afield. If you want to catch the band performing live, please see ‘Listen to Us‘ for more details of upcoming engagements.
The band is also available to hire for public or private engagements, in varying sizes of ensemble. Our ‘Book Us‘ page provides further details on what we offer.

The Harborough Band was formed on 11th May 1897, some twenty musicians having joined, with their headquarters at the Liberal Club.
Over the years since, the band has gone from strength to strength, rising through the rankings in the National Brass Band Championships, and is now ranked in the second section.
The band is proud to have many longstanding playing and committee members who have been involved with the band for multiple decades. We celebrated our 125th anniversary in 2022 with a concert at the Market Harborough Methodist church.
Further details of the band’s illustrious past can be found here.
